Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Today is the 96th day of the 105-day session. Wednesday marked the deadline for non-budget related bills to be passed by both the House and Senate. Any bills that did not pass are considered dead for the year. In my last email to you, I shared some of the major differences in the two budget proposals in the Legislature. Watch my short video where I discuss the different approaches to the budget.
Budget writers must now come together and find a compromise between those two proposals. I hope they can come to an agreement soon because we should not have to go into session “overtime” to finish our work.
I attended my first bill signing today. House Bill 1002, which would prohibit unfair and deceptive dental insurance practices, passed the House and Senate unanimously. While I didn't sponsor the bill, I did support it as a dentist who wants to improve the quality of care for my patients, as well as to increase transparency with dental bills. It was exciting to watch a bill become a law!
As always, feel free to contact me anytime. It's an honor to serve as your state representative.
Sincerely,

Michelle Caldier
