Medina teen pages for Rep. Caldier

Gavin W. Hill, a student at Bellevue Christian Junior High School, recently served as a page in the Washington State House of Representatives. He was sponsored by Rep. Michelle Caldier, R-Port Orchard.

As a page, Gavin observed the Legislature in action and was responsible for delivering messages and documents to legislators in their offices, committee meetings and the House chamber during floor sessions. Paging presents students with a unique educational opportunity to participate in the legislative process, such as presenting the flags, to operational chores like distributing amendments during legislative sessions.

To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor and be between the ages of 14 and 16. Additionally, pages are required to obtain written permission from their parents and school.

Gavin, 14, says he's interested in politics and civil service, and motivated to make positive changes in his local community. He lives in Medina with his mother.
