Tacoma teen helps in state House of Representatives

Jaidyn Green, a student at Summit Olympus High School in Tacoma, served as a page in the state House of Representatives from March 8 through March 13. She was sponsored by Rep. Michelle Caldier, R-Port Orchard.

During her week at the Legislature, Jaidyn helped to deliver documents and messages to lawmakers in their offices and on the House floor. She also attended page school, learning about how a bill becomes a law and other legislative actions.

Jaidyn enjoys sports, including basketball and swimming. She also enjoys music, dancing, painting and drawing. Jaidyn is the 14-year-old daughter of Patrick Green and James Tyus of Tacoma.

Each week during the legislative session, students between 14- and 16-years old from across the state serve in the legislative page program. They must have a legislative member as a sponsor, as well as permission from their school and parents. They are paid $35 per day.
