“This is a mess that our governor created,” Rep. Michelle Caldier, R-Port Orchard told KTTH's Jason Rantz about the state's eviction moratorium, which finally ended Oct. 31 after two extensions. Caldier, ranking Republican on the House Housing, Human Services and Veterans Committee, said the moratorium has impacted supply of rental housing, saying many “moms and pops” have left the industry. She also notes tenants not paying rent are now impossibly behind on their payments and rental assistance is hard to access.
